Statutory Restriction Definition
States are responsible for ensuring that rates are fair, reasonable and sufficient and that insurers writing insurance in the respective state are financially solvent and can pay future claims. With this objective, insurer investment using premium dollars is restricted by the state. States also control the insurance companies' relationships with insured with the guarantee of certain minimum rights.
