Larry Neilson

CEO & Founder

With 35 years in the Property/Casualty insurance industry under his belt, Larry has helped insurance agents, carriers, MGAs/MGUs, wholesalers, program administrators, and vendors capitalize on the latest in sales and marketing, data development, Internet marketing, SEO, email marketing, and social media distribution.

As CEO and co-founder of Neilson Marketing Services and ProgramBusiness.com, Larry and his team have set the standard in P/C outbound telemarketing, data analytics for niche marketing, online insurance coverage searches, program accessibility, specialty insurance placement, and lead/nurture campaigns.

Over the years, Larry expanded Neilson Marketing’s programs to provide digital strategies for both retail and wholesale entities as well as vendors in the industry.

Larry is a frequent speaker on marketing at many association and insurance company seminars, conferences, and conventions. He received his SEO, SMM, and Internet Marketing Certification from the University of San Francisco in 2011.

Jeff Neilson

Founder & President

Co-founder of Neilson Marketing Services and ProgramBusiness.com, Jeff has 30 years of experience in the insurance industry putting his expertise to work for P/C agencies, MGAs/MGUs, wholesalers, E&S brokers, and program administrators nationwide. With Neilson Marketing, he has implemented the gold standard in insurance telemarketing for more than 5,000+ agencies, brokerages, and companies across North America with customized, targeted lists, qualified leads, appointment-setting, relationship marketing programs, response tracking and analysis, and sales center consulting.

Jeff’s responsibilities as president of ProgramBusiness.com include overseeing the optimization of the online platform to enhance the already widely successful virtual wholesaler/MGA/E&S broker Storefronts for maximum lead generation and conversion.

Billy Gozum

Director of Product Strategy

Billy bridges the gap among the different departments involved in successfully bringing your products to market. She manages the product throughout its lifecycle to ensure that our efforts support your business’ strategy and goals.

With over 10 years of experience in automobile and P&C insurance, entrepreneurship and e-commerce, Billy mastered understanding and representing your needs and aligning stakeholders around the vision for the product.

With solid foundation from her degree in Math and Computer Science, Billy continued her education with certifications in Agile Methodologies at The University of Virginia, Entrepreneurship at Cornell University, and Tech Entrepreneurship at Stanford University.

George Van Fossan

Director of SEO

George is responsible for planning, implementing and managing each client’s overall SEO strategy. He covers a wide variety of duties including comparative analysis, web analytics, content strategy planning, link building, and keyword strategy.

George is an experienced social media specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the marketing and advertising industry, backed by an Associate’s Degree focused in Marketing from Saddleback College.

George’s experience working at digital marketing agencies makes him key to implementing successful strategies that optimize the performance and ranking of websites that we develop.

David Perry

Project Manager

David advocates for customers within Neilson Marketing Services and Program Business and serves as the primary operational point-of-contact for customers. 

David is responsible for onboarding, adoption of services, expansion, and retention. David is involved in sales growth and securing renewals by demonstrating the value of Neilson Marketing Services.

Sean Kelley

Telemarketing Manager

Sean hires and oversees the daily operations of the call centers and our call center reps. His duties include hiring and training Call Center Representatives, establishing goals for call center employees to follow, and resolving any customer issues or other call center problems that occur.

Hire, onboard and train call center personnel to meet our workflow. Coaches all call center staff through any challenges. Analyze call center data and prepare reports for clients and management. Evaluate staff effectiveness and performance annually or on an at-need basis. Lead team meetings and give presentations to executives. Develop monthly, quarterly and annual call center goals and action plans. Prepares work schedules to ensure sufficient activity in integrate with each client’s strategy.

Karen Spaeder

Director of Content

An accomplished B2B marketer, editor, and writer with over two decades of experience in content generation, Karen has has led high-performing teams in executing multichannel marketing initiatives, including blog, social media, and email marketing campaigns.

Karen’s background includes editorial roles at Entrepreneur magazine as managing editor of the magazine and editor of Entrepreneur.com. Previously, she also served as Vice President of Content for a social media SaaS company. A dedicated wordsmith with an eye for detail and compelling narratives, Karen ensures that each piece of content is aligned with clients’ goals, target audience, and unique style.

Karen earned her master’s degree in English from California State University, Fullerton, and her bachelor’s degree in English from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where she honed her journalism skills as the newspaper’s Campus Editor. She holds additional certificates in digital marketing with specialties in SEO content writing.

Maria Valdez Haubrich

Content Manager

With nearly three decades of experience in the print and digital publishing world, Maria has experience in all aspects of content creation, including writing, editing, social media, SEO, and web development.

As a co-founder of SMB Connects Corp., Maria provided digital content marketing solutions, web content services, assistance with social media marketing, and more. She is also the former Executive Editor of Entrepreneur magazine, where she worked for over 20 years, developing custom publications, online content, and other editorial products for B2B marketers seeking to reach small-business owners. 

Maria earned her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Laura Farkas

VP of Operations

With a career spanning over two decades in the tech and design industries, Laura is a seasoned professional known for their versatility and expertise in multiple domains. As a marketer, UI/UX designer, full stack web developer, and product manager, Laura has developed a unique skill set that allows them to see the bigger picture and effectively bridge the gap between user needs, technical possibilities, and business goals. Passionate about creating meaningful impact, Laura is always looking for opportunities to apply her wide-ranging skills to projects that matter for companies that make a difference.

Annie George

Chief Copywriter

Annie George is responsible for ProgramBusiness.com’s Daily NewsFlash publication, which delivers the latest in international, national and regional insurance news; industry reports; new carrier, MGA, program administrator coverage and niche market announcements and personnel hires; among other relevant issues to nearly 60,000 subscribers. She is also responsible for conducting insightful interview features with ProgramBusiness.com’s Storefronts, which include MGAs, wholesalers, program administrators and insurance vendors.

Annie also produces the marketing and communication content for ProgramBusiness.com, Neilson Marketing Services, and Agency Tsunami. She has managed the development and content production for the launch of more than 150 websites since 2010.

She has 30 years of insurance industry and marketing experience and holds several Certificates in Internet Marketing, SEO and Social Media Marketing from the University of San Francisco and UCLA, in addition to her B.A. in English Literature and Journalism.
